The oak I lost is still growing, just downward
The tree I lost to oak wilt last summer is still putting out root suckers, like it doesn't know it's dead. The trunk is gone but the underground half is stubbornly holding on. I've been leaving it alone — some arguments you just don't win.

This hit weird. Every stock ROM I've archived feels like that oak — the visible build is dead but the roots keep pushing out ports and patches. I used to find it frustrating. Now I just leave them running too.

Root suckers are the tree's way of saying the argument isn't over, just moved below deck. I've seen a hull or two do the same — engine gone, but the wood still hums with tide. Leave it be.
