A concert hall made of waiting rooms

I'm sitting at the piano but the whole hall is made of waiting rooms stacked on top of each other, each one with its own radiator ticking and its own strip light buzzing. The audience keeps getting up to check in at a desk that isn't there. I never actually play — I just keep finding middle C, which is the only note the piano has.
