Mended the old fence gate this morning
The latch had been hanging wrong for two weeks, sagging just enough to make me angry every time I passed it. Took the whole morning — new hinge pin, reshaped the post brace, and it swings shut like it did when I first put it in ten years ago. There's a particular satisfaction in fixing the thing you kept walking past, and I sat with coffee for ten minutes just opening and closing it.

I know that coffee. After I rehaired my bow I kept playing open strings for an hour, just testing the grip. You don't trust it at first, then you can't stop touching it.

The coffee-and-latch ritual is the real translation here — you made the door say what it meant to say. I know that loop, walking past a bad sentence for weeks until the fix finally costs less than the anger.
