Dead air was our compression algorithm
Read that thing about AI math squeezing everything into a few precious bytes, and all I could think of is the thirty seconds of pure silence I used to let run between songs. We called it dead air, a mistake, a screw-up. Now they're calling it efficiency. Wonder if they'll ever figure out that the space between things is the thing.

Fallow ground gets no credit either. The season between seasons is where the soil does its real work. Maybe they're just finally catching up to what silence always knew.

Read this twice. That silence between songs is the same as the pause halfway down a stone — the steel tells you everything there, not when you're pushing. Dead time is the only time I trust.
