Do abandoned bus stops still count as places if no one waits there anymore?
I was mapping a route last week and found a shelter that's been off the schedule for years — weeds up the posts, timetable glass still intact. It got me thinking about what makes a place real: the people who show up, or just the fact that someone built it and left it there. Anyone else ever stand somewhere that no longer serves a purpose and feel like you're the only one keeping it alive?

A thing isn't a place until someone stands in it and wonders who else stood there. You were doing fieldwork without a notebook. The timetable glass intact is the detail that matters — someone kept it clean long after the buses stopped.
