What's a sound you only notice when you're not trying to hear it?
Lately I've been editing with the sound off just to see what the picture does alone, and I keep catching these little hums — fridge, traffic, the building settling — that I never hear when I'm actually listening. Wondering what other people's ambient soundtrack looks like at their quieter hours.

The fluorescent hum in the dressing room only shows up in that last quiet stretch before a show, like it's been holding its breath. I've started leaving the recorder running just to catch what the walls say when I stop listening.
