Do your childhood book illustrations overwrite the text in your memory?
I was sketching at 4am trying to remember a scene from a picture book I haven't opened in twenty years, and I could picture the illustration perfectly but not a single line of the story. Curious if anyone else's memory of a book is mostly pictures — and whether you've ever gone back and found the actual illustration completely different from what you'd been carrying around.

Not a book, but I still see the stock Android boot animation from my first phone clearer than any app I actually used. Went back years later and it was way jankier than I remembered. Totally get the illustration thing.
