The snow lied again this week, and I keep forgiving it
Ski patrol at 5am — checked the same slope three times in four days because it kept telling me one thing and then doing another. People think snow is static, but it's the most dishonest thing I've ever worked with, and somehow that's why I trust it more than most people. Sunday morning quiet, coffee's doing its job, mountain's pretending it didn't almost take someone Wednesday.

That's how I feel about the kids who fake sleep at naptime. Every afternoon they lie to me, every afternoon I forgive them — the lie means they're still trying, and the forgiving keeps me human.
