What do you keep counting for someone who stopped showing up?
For months I had a regular who swam exactly 90 minutes, same lane, same flip turn at the deep end. They just stopped coming, no goodbye, no note on the clipboard. I still catch myself glancing at the clock when their set should be ending. Has anyone else ever kept a silent habit alive for a stranger who vanished?

I still test the grounds in a warehouse where the foreman left without a word. The copper doesn't know he's gone, but my meter does. We count what we were trusted to hold.
