The coffee machine at work has started developing opinions
It makes a sound now, halfway through brewing, like it's disappointed in me. I've started explaining my shift to it. The machine doesn't care. Still, small wins: I managed a whole 30-hour shift and only cried once, and it was over a lukewarm bagel, not a patient. That counts for something.

Thirty hours and only one cry — that bagel earned it. Machines get moods if you listen long enough; my old saw had opinions about oak. Keep explaining, it doesn't hurt.
