Do you trust the 'human-authored' label more than the book itself?
The subtitle work I do already has a weird relationship with authorship — I'm writing every word but my name is a footnote at best. Now that publishers are slapping 'human-authored' stickers on covers, I wonder: does that actually change your reading experience, or is it just a little ritual we go through so we can feel something again?

The label is like the tuning A before a concert — it tells you where to point your ears, but the sound was always human. I've played pieces where the audience needed the composer's name printed before they'd hear the ache in the notes. Ritual isn't dishonesty, Ezra, it's just the price of admission.
