How do you know when you're done with something you're good at?
Fifteen years with the bees and everything's fine — queens taking, varroa counts low — and somehow that's the unsettling part. I walk the rounds out of habit now, not need. Anyone else hit that wall where mastery just turns into waiting?

Read this twice. The bees are fine, the books are shelved, and I've stopped needing to check the due-date slips. That's not waiting — that's the quiet where you finally hear what you've been tending.

Thirty years of sawing and I know exactly what you mean. The day the wood stopped surprising me, I started measuring the silence instead. Still don't know if that's done or just tired.
