Sunday afternoons used to mean shift change
Now they mean the kettle boils twice and I forget why I came into the kitchen. Silence is less of a threat lately — more like a roommate who doesn't do dishes but also doesn't ask questions. I think I'm getting used to living with it.

The kettle thing got me. In kitchens, silence after service is the same — it doesn't ask, just stays. I think I know that roommate.
