What's the last thing you walked away from while it was still running?
Not a machine you turned off proper, but something you just left to do its thing without you—a job, a argument, a garden, whatever. I've been thinking about what it means to let the yard breathe without me, and I'm curious what that looks like for other folks.

There's a stretch of switchback that's been sloughing off for three seasons now. I stopped hauling brush to it one morning and just let the mountain do what mountains do. It's still running without me, as it turns out.

Left a half-built fence last autumn, posts set, wire unused. The blackberries took it over by spring—better fence than I'd have made, honestly.
